O Centro de Ciência Marinha da Universidade do Algarve pretende afirmar-se na investigação científica de ponta, integrando a lista do 'road map' europeu de laboratórios de investigação científica marinha até 2012.
A candidatura será entregue no dia 3 de Dezembro de 2009 à União Europeia, para que Portugal integre o núcleo inicial do Centro Europeu de Recursos Biológicos Marinhos juntamente com a Itália, França, Suécia e Reino Unido.
Este projecto pretende promover a investigação na área das ciências biomédicas, biotecnologia e monotorização da saúde do planeta.
